Principal SQL Server DBA - Fully remote.

We're looking for an experienced Principal SQL Server DBA to lead and shape a database function, supporting a market-leading SaaS practice management platform.

UK based, fully remote, this is a hands-on leadership role combining day-to-day management of a business-critical, 24/7 database environment with responsibility for setting long-term strategy, establishing best practices and developing a growing DBA team.

What you'll be doing:

• Lead the strategy, standards and roadmap for 300+ production databases, predominantly SQL Server hosted on Azure.
• Provide hands-on database administration, performance tuning, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Own backup, restore and disaster recovery processes, ensuring reliability and resilience.
• Optimise database performance, configuration, deployment processes and cost efficiency.
• Lead and develop the DBA team, acting as the senior technical authority across Engineering and Platform Operations.

What we're looking for

• 8+ years' hands-on SQL Server DBA experience.
• Strong experience with Azure SQL, including deployment tiers and migration strategies.
• Proven ability to define database standards, strategy and long-term technical direction.
• Experience managing backups, disaster recovery, performance tuning and production releases in a 24/7 environment.
